Today’s tip comes from Proverbs 3:21-24 which says:
“My child, don’t lose sight of common sense and discernment. Hang on to them, for they will refresh your soul. They are like jewels on a necklace. They keep you safe on your way, and your feet will not stumble. You can go to bed without fear; you will lie down and sleep soundly.” As we read those verses, we see this: Practicing discernment helps your soul rest. Rest, especially deep rest for our souls is a valuable, and often missing, commodity in this day and age. Reading these verses we are encouraged that when we seek God, develop and use discernment, it helps us stay on the right path which ultimately allows us to live in a more restful and refreshing way. This does not mean we won’t still have difficulties and challenges, but it sets up to be equipped to better handle those challenges with God’s help.

Today’s tip is this:
Taking time to rest better equips you. When we rest, especially when it’s Sabbath rest where we’re truly resting in God, it restores us in ways that equip us to do what we need to better. Physical rest helps to restore our bodies, our minds, and keeps us healthy. Resting in God gives us rest for our souls. When we are rested, we can think better and have more energy and peace. What we are able to do and how we are able to live is more effective, more abundant and full. So why do we resist this so much? It’s time to stop resisting and accept God’s invitation to take time to rest in Him. |
